On a hazy March morning @clevedonpier was just a joy - like stepping back into the 50s except for the rows of plaques that line the sides commemorating births, deaths and love affairs. Resolved to go more often.

What a way to kick off a meal: potato beignets with anchovy mayo and parmigiano reggiano. Then two exemplary main courses, cod and mussels with curried crab sauce (a bit like a mouclade) and pork schnitzel with brown butter capers and (more) anchovies.

Not many restaurants have main courses that are as good as their starters but @1yorkplace_bristol is one of them. So lucky to have it as a local.

Love a sommelier who has the boldness to recommend a red wine - @sabellifrisch’s Somers vineyard Mission - with a crab pasta. (Chips not with the pasta but my mate @fionasims Dover sole btw!)

Good call @agustina.basilico! @toklas_london continues to be one of my favourite London restaurants. #guest on this occasion but I do go and spend my own money there 😉
